aussie 08 with dear dear part 2

with 2 comments

so.. i said i would continue with the aussie trip isn’t it? alright, so we drove to carrington falls after sydney..

really beautiful.. unlike the other one which we went to later, which was so commercialized and disturbed. for this falls, you can climb down the rocks and touch the water, etc etc. gorgeous!

after that we drove down to kangaroo valley to have lunch.. even though it’s a small town, the things are freaking expensive! however, portions are really huge.. so i guess it’s value for money :)

oh.. this was the other waterfall that we visited. however it’s pretty small and i didn’t really like it cos you couldn’t get near to the falls, since it’s barred by railings :(

ohh. friendly inn hotel’s the place we ate at for lunch. not bad, great scenery outside, nice bar, nice facilities! and best of all?

it’s opposite the Kangaroo Valley Fudge House and Ice Creamery :)

okay after that we drove to Nowra to retire for the night.

lovely place. pelicans were eating fishes, beautiful sunset..

and dear and i were reliving our childhood by playing on the swings :)

oh, and there’s a great thai restaurant nearby too! the laksa that they cooked (very different from the singapore style) was delicious! it was sweet, and yet spicy. not very spicy in the beginning though, but i asked for more chilli powder. think the lady wasn’t quite expecting that. lol

after our dinner, hw’s dad wanted to walk along scenic drive, treating it as a walk after dinner. seeing that it was pitch black ahead (cos the sun sets very early), i asked them if they would like to head in the direction of the town instead.

bad choice i realized. WHAT TOWN? sure, there was an amusement park/entertainment centre, but it was closed. most of the shops were spa shops, dentists, doctors, accountants, etc etc. basically the “shops” were actually residential houses, open for business in the day, and where they stayed at in the night.

ha ha ha.

i felt so sorry for asking them to walk this way :(

so anyway, we were on our way to merimbula, stopping by jervis bay of course. how could anyone miss that place? it supposedly has the clearest water and the whitest sand.. not just in australia, but in the world! and dolphin sightings are pretty common too :)

it’s really difficult trying to synchronize the timing on the swings, especially when you start off at different times.lol. i think we looked super comical trying to do so.

so this is what i mean.. whitest sand, clearest water, being with the one you love the most!! perfect :)

haha, i actually drew one heart at first, but dear dear drew the other heart, plus the arrow! haha. so cute! i wrote the words “je t’aime” of course.

love you dear!

okay so anyway, down to merimbula.

only took one photo! haha

teehee! i love you dearie! muacks!

after merimbula.. was a crazy drive to melbourne. hence we left earlier that morning, since we knew that it’s gonna be something like 8 hours of driving, excluding pit stops. and after the lesson with the kangaroo, we didn’t want to drive at night anymore! hahah.

okay that’s us in melbourne, taking the 3.50AUD tram :) this other girl who had the same coat came up the tram! and she was sitting opposite me! wahhaha. so awkward! lol.

ohh anyway we drove along great ocean road the next day.. hence the photos.

this waterfall was not bad la. quite nice. the only thing is that it was raining, so the paths were wet and slippery. (which resulted in dirty muddy shoes and a dirty car afterwards).

we stopped over at Lorne for lunch. the place was ncie and scenic but the food was absolutely ex and gross. the bread was so hard, that when dear dropped it onto the plate, you can hear the “clunk” sound. well done, chefs.

okay i think after that we reached port campbell. long journey, and i had to keep talking to dear to prevent him (and myself) from falling asleep. hahah. stopped over at Marriner’s Lookout on the way. damn pretty place!!! it’s a must see! absolutely breath taking.

however, it’s a steep journey, so be careful!

as quoted:

Marriners lookout is a five-minute fairly steep walk from the car park, but it’s well worth the effort for its panoramic views of Apollo Bay and far out to sea. Drive a few minutes north from Apollo Bay along the Great Ocean Road, there’s a turn-off to Marriners Lookout Road.

and guess where port campbell is near?

the twelve apostles!

it’s only about a 10minute drive away. sadly, the gibson steps were closed!!!

Due to a recent risk analysis, access to Gibson Steps will be closed to all persons until further notice. The decision has been made on the basis of an engineering report that found there is an unacceptable level of risk to visitors at the site. The risk is from potential collapse of the cliff directly onto the steps. Any attempt to access this beach is not recommended

kns!

anyway, in case you don’t know what Gibson steps are..

The Gibson Steps are an area of cliffs on the south coast of Australia, located at 38°40′06″S, 143°06′43″E. The cliffs are the first sightseeing stopoff in Port Campbell National Park for travellers heading West along the Great Ocean Road, located about 5 minutes drive away from The Twelve Apostles. The name Gibson Steps refers to the staircase leading down to the stretch of beach shown to the right.

sheesh! means i can’t go down to the Twelve Apostles lah! never mind, have to suffice with the Twelve Apostles National Park instead. :(

must show a bigger picture.

i know my camera sucks. haha. but it was beautiful! and the wind was so freaking strong! i was like being blown backwards as i was taking the photos. not like you can’t tell from my messy hair anyway. haha.

some of the pictures are from the fair in Colac.

anyway, we drove back via Colac and Geelong back to Melbourne. and it was time to meet up with Junkai, who used to stay in hall too. but he’s on exchange and UMel.

casinos are no good for you! haha, but it was nice to have a look anyway.

and well, it was time for dear’s birthday surprise! i must say it was quite screwed because

1) i didn’t finish my dinner fast enough for me to siam halfway during dinner
2) the haircut next door was too expensive, thus not allowing me to buy extra time to buy the cake and stuff for dear (and also i couldn’t get back to the hostel earlier)
3) dear’s mum was like “aiyah buy cake only…” omg! haha. boohoo so everything was leaked out!

but dear was still a good sport about it and waited in the tv room while i got the room ready, thanks to the help of dear’s parents of course :)

i hope dear dear liked the surprise anyway :)

and my fave photos of the birthday surprise?

nice with all the balloons everywhere right?

then dear went to do “lub dub” like a beating heart. he looked super cute and it was super sweet la! i decided to imitate!

alright, so that was the last night. dear and i went to watch “40 year old virgin” on my laptop, while drinking alcohol. and goodness knows why.. but i was drunk on bacardi!! sia la. this is so damn embarrassing. luckily there weren’t many people around. this is seriously my first time being drunk sia. my head was heavy! :(

okay, went to Melbourne airport in the morning, and we’re off to Singapore :)

oh, and guess what i saw there?

porsche cayman!

nice! (not the colour though. i don’t really fancy this colour)

alright, so there.. i’m done with my aussie trip. satisfied nx?
