somehow it’s already 3.12am and i’m not even the least bit tired. yes, you read it right. i’m freaking awake and energetic. i really have no idea why! and it’s not like as if i’m sleeping wayyyy into the afternoon or something. i still wake up at 9am-915am, so that i can have my breakfast at 930am at the latest.

i’m doing my geog practical at the moment. i think it looks good! hahaha. self praise. lol.

oh yeah anyway went for Saving Grace, a musical by the NUS University Scholars Club today. i must say it was rather good! Grace’s “mother” could sing really well! i liked her voice a lot, even though she seemed to look rather old.. as in chao lau. could that be because of the make up? Grace’s “father” looks like Hossan Leong from side view. and he has provides just about the same amount of comic relief as Hossan Leong too! oh and the guy acting as the indian sweeper is so funny! well actually he doesn’t speak like that in real life. he speaks with a proper english accent, unlike the one he faked on stage!

i wonder how it’s like to have biopolar disorder. maybe i do too. after all, it’s not uncommon for one to be extremely elated at one moment, and have severe bouts of depression at the next moment right?? hmm.  dear must have been very tolerable of all my tantrums i must say. haish.

i don’t know what’s wrong with me. but sometimes i feel very sorry when i don’t study in the room with dear, despite him asking me to stay in his room to study. sometimes, i just need the table.. like when i’m drawing maps for geog.. i can’t possibly do it on the bed! and recently due to bioinformatics, i need to use my laptop a lot (with the internet connection of course! otherwise how can i do BLAST?) but the thing is that there is only 1 lan cable in each room, so if dear needs his laptop for his thesis and i need mine for my miniproject, then there’s no way for me to study together with him in his room right? i’m so sorry dear. i know all these projects and stuff are just somehow taking up so much of my time and i’m sorry if you feel neglected in any way :(

oh yeah, i think i digressed too much. anyway the reason as to why i was talking about bipolar disorder was because that’s what the musical was about. Grace was the girl who had this problem, and the musical basically shows about the issues in her life that she had to go through. it’s nice though, reminds me of CHICAGO.

one thing i learnt is that he can get very very moody, although it’s not apparent in the photos.

i feel so freaking tired these days. don’t know why. is it due to the long hours of school that i have for mondays to wednesdays? i hate these 10am to 6pm classes, without break (okay, a short one, like maybe half an hour, just enough for us to walk from the lab to the canteen to get food, and then queue up for food, and then walk back again!)

i actually wanted to read my miniproject manual yesterday.. but i was so freaking tired. and too many numbers of how many microlitres to add didn’t quite help either. so oh well i decided to go to sleep, planning to read the lab manual tomorrow morning. well, it’s rather important that i read this time, because miniproject for this experimental module constitutes like 40% of the total marks and it’s 6 modular credis!! so yes, miniproject is an individual work to be submitted by everyone. so how can i not do it properly??

unfortunately, obviously the sleep-early-wake-up-early to study shit doesn’t work for me. instead, i woke up at 930am!! darn! that’s the time whereby the dining hall close its relentless shutters! so obviously i had to get huihui to get some bread for me :X

saw nx and yinting at the bazaar today!! yaay!! can’t wait to see them again on friday, together with everyone else! actually, i’m not even sure who’s the everyone else! who’s supposed to do the inviting? me?

anyway, lab was so long and boring today. i spent like one and a half hours queuing up to use the nanodrop machine. what an efficient ratio of equipments to students i tell you!! i think by the time it came to my turn, i was so tired after standing for so long, and so sleepy too! and gel electrophoresis took like 45 minutes even though we increased the voltage to let it run faster.

yup, and this is my results from gel electrophoresis!

i occupy like the last six lanes. i guess the results weren’t too bad. at least it showed 1 bands for the insert and 1 band for the plasmid. the last lane shouldn’t have an insert (pBlueScript), so technically there should be one band only. but somehow it seems like everyone has like 2 bands. not sure why. maybe some contamination in the stock which they gave us? maybe supercoiled structures formed? goodness knows. hopefully the sequencing results would be fine and show that i did not take 2 colonies or something! *prays hard* otherwise i would have to do all over again from scratch, which is like so freaking tedious!

poor dear. i think he was so worried that something had happened to me. i received missed calls and messages from him. and because i was so intent on doing my experiment, i didn’t even keep my hp with me in my labcoat today! and dear actually smsed hui ann too, to ask if i was okay! haha. so sweet lah! but seriously nothing was wrong la. i was just busy with all the centrifuging, pipetting, restriction digestion, Nanodrop-ping, etc etc.

alright, so i’ve uploaded like two photos.. haha.

alright this is the first one. was kind of inspired by the shadow that were on my book as i was reading it. so hey! why not just put a circular object in the middle, such that the shadow created would be a heart? heehee.

well thinking along those lines.. i decided to purposely find a page which has more or less apt words. so i found this page from one of my french books (yes i know, seems like every book is french.. but well, it’s supposed to be romantic right? so it suits this heart shaped shadow doesn’t it?).

it says “le jeune homme qui” *followed by a heart shaped shadow*. this signifies something like “le jeune homme qui je t’aime”, which translates to “the young man whom i love”.

so hmm, how are the photos? haha. go and join the group if you love taking photos yeah? hahaha.

well, nothing much recently. i guess this week wasn’t so bad. sure, i’ve got like 2 french tests, but.. still alright i guess. not as xiong as core modules. oh, and we has dessert supper today!!! guess what i made?

that’s right, chocolate fondue and frozen banana cubes, coated with chocolate! haha. if you had come for chocolate supper last year then i guess this is no surprise after all! i hope the food was good! :X

ooh, my birthday is coming soon! really sad that dear couldn’t celebrate it earlier with me and my family, cos it’s his grandfather’s death anniversary. but oh well, no choice right? i guess my parents will understand lah.. filial piety and all. :P

Noise

Chromatic Aberrations

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX12 dealt very well with chromatic aberrations during the review, with only limited purple fringing present around the edges of objects in certain high-contrast situations.

The out-of-the camera images at the default setting are soft and benefit from some further sharpening in a program like Adobe Photoshop.

Macro

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX12 offers a Macro setting that allows you to focus on a subject that is 5cms away from the camera.

Flash

The flash settings on the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX12 are Auto, Auto/Red-eye Reduction, Forced On and Forced Off.

Night Shot

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX12 maximum shutter speed is 60 seconds in Starry Sky Mode, which is excellent news if you’re interested in night photography. The shot below was taken using a shutter speed of 8 seconds, aperture of f/5 at ISO 100.

Anti Shake

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX12 has an anti-shake mechanism, which allows you to take sharp photos at slower shutter speeds than other digital cameras.
